The oldest of women's professions is midwifery and this is exactly what I was meant to do. I decided to become a midwife in 1992. I went back to school and achieved my goal and of becoming a certified nurse midwife. I am proud to offer nurse midwifery services and the midwifery model of care to women in Northeast Nebraska. In 1999 I attended just over 60 births, in 2000, just over 90 births. In 2001, I had the honor of assisting 120 babies into the world, including the New Years baby and the runner-up. In 2002 the babies I caught numbered 127, one of whom is my grandson. 2003 I cannot believe I delivered 156 babies...This last year of 2005 I caught the last baby of 2005 and the first of 2006. What a privilege. May 2006. Just last week caught baby # 1,000. Now to start on the second 1000. Each birth impresses me with the miracle of life and the ability of women.

I have established the 1st nurse-midwifery practice in Northeast Nebraska. There are currently CNMs in Omaha, Lincoln, Hastings, and Scottsbluff. My practice includes reproductive health, well-woman gynecological care, treatments of common gynecological problems, preconception counseling, family planning information, natural family planning, barrier methods, birth control pills, Ortho Evra (the patch),Nuva Ring (a vaginal ring replaced once a month), Depo Provera, IUDs, etc. Also postmenopausal women care for gynecological services, including hormone replacement thereapy, alternatives to HRT, and screening for osteoporosis. Approximately 30% of my practice is well-woman care.
